Before cleaning, it is essential to ensure the machine is shut down, powered off, and cooled and depressurized to eliminate safety hazards. Small dry dog food making machines can reach internal temperatures of 120-150℃ and pressures of 3-5MPa during operation. Cleaning before completely shutting down and disconnecting the power may cause the motor to start unexpectedly, resulting in pinching injuries; without cooling and depressurization, there is a risk of burns from hot raw materials or steam. The correct procedure is: first, turn off the main power supply, unplug the power cord or disconnect the main power supply to ensure the equipment is completely stopped; wait for the dog food manufacturing equipment to cool naturally to below 50℃, and simultaneously open the pressure relief valve to release any residual internal pressure. Only begin cleaning after the pressure gauge reads 0. For example, when cleaning a small household twin-screw extruder, wait at least 30 minutes after the equipment has stopped, and touch the casing to confirm the temperature is suitable before proceeding with cleaning.
During the cleaning process, tools must be used correctly to avoid damaging the equipment and injuring personnel. Sharp tools (such as screwdrivers or steel wool) must not be used to forcibly scrape the precision components of the cat food making machine, such as the screw, extrusion chamber, and die head, as this may scratch the surface of the components and affect the subsequent extrusion effect and equipment sealing. Specialized soft cleaning tools, such as nylon brushes, sponges, and soft cloths, should be used with warm water or a neutral detergent for cleaning. At the same time, ensure good ventilation in the operating space during cleaning. If using detergent, avoid detergent residue that may produce odors and affect feed quality. For example, when cleaning the extruder die head, first soak it in warm water for 10-15 minutes to soften any residual raw materials, then gently brush away any residue inside the orifice with a nylon brush. Avoid using steel wool to scrape, which may deform the orifice.
After cleaning, a safety inspection and drying process are necessary to ensure safe operation. After cleaning, check that all components are installed correctly and that screws are tightened to prevent malfunctions during equipment operation due to improper installation. At the same time, the inside and outside of the small pet food extrusion equipment machine must be completely wiped dry or air-dried, especially the motor, electrical control system and other parts. No residual moisture is allowed to prevent short circuits after power is turned on. For example, after cleaning an industrial-grade extruder, compressed air can be used to blow away any residual moisture inside. Check whether the electrical interfaces are dry. After confirming that everything is in order, the power can be connected for a trial run. Only after the trial run is normal can it be put into formal production.
