Troubleshooting abnormal temperatures (too high or too low) requires focusing on the "temperature control system - heat transfer components - raw material characteristics." Common causes of excessively low temperatures include: 1) Heating element malfunction, such as a burnt-out electric heating element or a blocked steam heating element. Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the electric heating element; if the resistance is zero, replace it. For blocked steam heating elements, flush with a high-pressure water gun. 2) The raw material feeding speed is too fast, exceeding the heating system's load. Reduce the feeding speed using a frequency converter to ensure the raw material is heated in the barrel for at least 30 seconds. 3) The barrel cooling system may be erroneously activated. Check the temperature control switch and disable unnecessary cooling functions. Excessively high temperatures are often due to a malfunctioning cooling system or insufficient moisture in the raw material. Clean the scale from the cooling jacket, ensure smooth cooling water circulation, and spray an appropriate amount of water into the raw material (50-100 kg per ton of raw material) to balance the temperature.

Troubleshooting insufficient expansion requires a two-pronged approach: "parameter adjustment and component inspection." At the parameter level: Increase the temperature of the extrusion section (from 100℃ to 110-120℃ for fish feed, and from 90℃ to 100℃ for pet food), and simultaneously increase the screw speed (from 180r/min to 220r/min) to enhance mechanical friction and heat generation. If the raw material has a high fiber content (>15%), increase the moisture content through the steam system of the wet extruder to soften the fiber structure. At the component level: Check the wear of the screw threads. Wear exceeding 0.5mm will lead to insufficient shear force, requiring screw replacement. Clogged pressure relief holes in the die head will affect the extrusion effect; clean the holes with fine steel wire to ensure unobstructed flow.

The key to preventing temperature and extrusion failures is establishing a "dynamic parameter matching" mechanism. After each batch of raw materials is changed, a small-batch trial production should be conducted to test the moisture content and particle size of the raw materials. Adjust the temperature of each section of the extruder and the screw speed accordingly. Install multiple temperature sensors in the extruder barrel to monitor the temperature of each section in real time. Automatic alarms should be triggered when fluctuations exceed ±5℃ to prevent the failure from escalating. A certain aquatic feed factory reduced the defect rate caused by extruder failure from 12% to 2% by using this mechanism.
